How to order a Thyroid test.

A Thyroid test includes TSH, T4, and T3 in the human body. T3 and T4 circulate in the blood bound and linked to molecules of protein. The unbound T3 and T4 represents the bodys thyroid levels. Thyroid levels of hormones that are free react with cell receptors.

Below normal are thyroid levels in hypothyroidism. Excess TSH is released by the pituitary gland and thyroid levels of TSH rise. A Thyroid test is performed when blood TSH thyroid levels are low, often kept down to levlels below 0.01 mIU per L, hyperthyroidism occurs. In the beginning stages of dysfunctional thyroid or medicine changes, thyroid level may appear normal in patients. Because of this, an FT4 and FT3 thyroid level needs to be analyzed.

T3 is only produced in small amounts by the thyroid gland. The liver produces the majority of T3 available in the body because of the of T4 to T3 conversion.
