Cool Light with LED Flashlights

I bought my first LED flashlight about nine years ago. It was a small keychain powered by a button-cell battery. Since that time, LED flashlights have evolved and new models have brighter lights using more LEDs.

Light-emitting diodes or LEDs are solid-state transistors which glow when power passes through them. But unlike incandescent bulbs, there are no filaments, and no bulbs. It doesn’t burn, nor produce much heat. And best of all, it eats up a minuscule amount of energy.

The small wattage makes the best LED flashlight a very novel proposition. It doesn’t have to use a large energy source to produce light and it doesn’t generate lots of heat either. And since it’s solid-state, it has a long life span.

Although normal LEDs come in all colors, the diodes used in flashlights usually have a bluish tinge. This is not really a impediment to having a bright flashlight. In fact, currently there are small projectors using LEDs for the lighting element.

The titanium LED flashlight come in a variety sizes. There are the cell phone models which are smaller than a hand, with larger flashlights using multiple of LEDs. Using banks LEDs, the size of a flashlights can be as large as any common flashlight, with a variety of designs. There was even one unit which has a circular group of LEDs for a flashlight torch inside the reflector unit, which included a rectangular set on the side but without the reflector unit. This could come in handy as a reading lamp, replacing portable battery powered fluorescent lights.
